We have been blessed with 4 wonderful pets.  Kali, Raja and Willie, our feline friends, are regular visitors to the healing rooms and also regular users of many of the natural products offered by Many Paths Holistic Healing Center.  Each of the cats has their own healing journeys to share.  Raja and Willie were diagnosed many years ago with Feline Herpes.  As a result, they constantly had runny and crusty eyes.  We support their health by cleaning their eyes often with warm water and treating the area with Neem Cream.

Living in a Holistic Health Center has helped all our pets settle from their various beginnings.  All the animals experience Reiki treatments on a regular basis and we treat the bottom of their feet with an animal version of reflexology.  There are also a variety of stones and crystals that can be made into pendants for their collars that will help them settle into new locations, alleviate fears and calm their energies.
The addition of an outside cat enclosure has allowed them to access fresh air and the benefits of Mother Nature without harming the wildlife.  We grow oat grass for them in composted dirt which benefits their digestive system.  It’s great amusement we watch the cats “tuck into” their “salads” and enjoy taking the sun or watching the birds from the safety of their outside enclosure.

A holistic lifestyle is meant to include ourselves, as healers, our clients and friends but also our pets.  For more information on holistic therapies for pets contact Many Paths Holistic Healing Center.

What a beautiful day. It’s been a beautifully sunny week here at Many Paths Holistic Health but it would be foolish to believe that, as we move farther into October, that the sun will last. It’s said that anyone living above the 49th parallel has a greater risk of experiencing SADD disease than some of our more southern clients and friends. We love living in the rain forest. It’s green and beautiful here and we aren’t made of sugar so we get out into the elements often, enjoying the rolling breakers on the sea shore and the howling wind in the trees.

A great choice after our walk along the sea walk, experiencing the awesome force of Mother Nature is to hop into the infrared sauna and soak up some sunshine. Who doesn’t love the feeling of soaking up the sun at the beach or lying in your back yard. The far-infrared sauna therapy has many benefits for those of us that live above the 49 parallel. The sauna reduces toxins and heavy metals and helps relieve those aches and pains that go with chopping firewood, skiing, snowshoeing or just the hectic life most of us seem to have these days. The sauna has been shown to be effective in providing pain relief with such areas as fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, back pain and other musculoskeletal ailments.

Feel a cold coming on? The body’s natural way to release toxins is through sweating (although I’m not sure that night sweats from menopause apply here). Hopping in the sauna will promote an increase in the core temperature of the body. Your blood vessels dilate which causes increased blood flow. Healing is promoted with increased blood supply. As the heat from the blood moves toward the skin’s surface and the core body temperature rises, the body’s nervous system sends signals to the millions of sweat glands. Sweat production is primary for cooling the body. Deep sweating, as in a far-infrared sauna, can help reduce levels of heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, pcbs and hydrocarbon residues–all toxins comonly picked up in our environment. Add to this toxin load a cold or flu virus and you’re down for the count.

To enhance the experience, our saunas come complete with music therapy to help you relax and color therapy–promoting relaxation and healing over those long winter months with no sunshine. One of the added bonuses of the infrared sauna is the calorie burn. If you find that you can’t workout due to an injury or because of inclement weather, the infrared sauna therapy burns up to 600 calories per session. You can maintain a calorie burn even when you are taking a break from a fitness routine.

For as little as $3000.00 you can have an infrared sauna in your home (that’s approximately $60.00 per month for a family of four to have a the use of a sauna on a daily basis). Inexpensive to run in terms of power, the average family usage may see a slight variation in their consumption. For more information on infrared saunas contact Many Paths Holistic Health.

Many Paths Holistic Health Center is proud to bring you the many fine products produced through Ferlow Botanicals.

Neem Tree Cream (Azadirachta Indica) is a tropical evergreen and has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years in India. The first recorded use of Neem is by the ancient Harappa culture which added the plant to dozens of health and beauty aids more than 4,500 years ago. Ayurvedic medicine has utilized Neem formulations as a mainstay of the Ayurvedic pharmacy. Neem is mentioned in many ancient texts and traditional Indian medical authorities place it at the pinnacle of their pharmacopeia. Though not a panacea, it can play a major role in preventing and treating many problems. Prescription medicines made from Neem extracts, approved by the Indian equivalent of Health Canada, are used to treat a number of these conditions.

Consider Neem Tree Cream to assist with such conditions as: acne, athlete’s foot, eczema, fungal infections, ringworm, herpes sores, psoriasis, rosacea, shingles and warts. Neem Tree Cream is available in 2 sizes 60ml (2oz) or 120ml (4oz)
